Prayer is the gift of asking God to do what He has already promised to do. Through Jesus Christ, we have been adopted as God's children, and the Spirit enables us to approach our Father with confidence.

When you share a prayer request, you're inviting your pastor (and perhaps others in your church family) to join you in asking God to fulfill His promises: for His strength, wisdom, comfort, or provision in your life. God has committed Himself to hearing and answering the prayers of His people because of what Christ has done for us.
