WHO WE ARE
Our Name
Our name, Inheritance, is more than just a title—it’s a testimony to the story God is writing in and through us. Scripture tells us that in Christ, we are “heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17), welcomed into the family of God by grace, not by birthright. This inheritance isn’t silver or gold, but something far more precious—“an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade … kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:4). It is the unshakable love of the Father, the righteousness of the Son, and the abiding presence of the Spirit, not to mention everlasting life in the New Creation!
But inheritance isn’t just about what we receive—it’s also about what we pass on. As those shaped by the deep well of Reformed faith, we treasure the gospel truths handed down to us, not as relics of the past, but as living hope for today. “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:4). We want to be faithful stewards of this rich heritage, not just keeping it, but sharing it—so that future generations, and those new to the faith, may also know the boundless grace of God.
At Inheritance URC, you don’t have to come from a particular background to belong. Whether you’ve walked with Christ for decades or are just beginning to explore faith, there is a place for you here.
Our History
The vision for Inheritance began to form when members of Phoenix URC (PURC), who saw the need for more confessional churches in the West Valley, began meeting regularly to pray for God’s blessing. In response, the Lord not only provided a pastor, but moved the hearts of approximately 50 members of PURC, as well as others, to participate in the church plant. On June 1, 2025, we departed with the blessing and oversight of PURC to establish another faithful Christian church in this growing community.
Our Congregation
We are made up of individuals and families of all ages. We are led and cared for by a team of seasoned elders and deacons, several of whom served for many years at other churches. We’re known for hospitality, spiritual maturity, and zeal to share our blessings with others. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to connect, grow, and serve as we share the gospel and care for our neighbors in the West Valley and beyond.
We are united by earnest love for our God, one another, and our neighbors. We are united doctrinally by our dedication to the “the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.” (Jude 3), particularly as summarized in the historic Three Forms of Unity. Above all, we are united in the Holy Spirit who has produced between us a living, breathing connection that runs deeper than any human institution. Just as there is one body and one Spirit, so also we are one in Christ, bound together by the same hope that calls us forward (Ephesians 4:3-6). This unity is not something we create or maintain by our own efforts; it is a gift from God.
We hope you can worship with us and be a part of this exciting mission!
